Our Barcelona adventure and other travel stories

Hiking in the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Collserola (2)

Yesterday afternoon we spontaneously decided to go for a quick in Hike in the natural park of the Sierra de Collserola. The great thing is that it only takes you 30 minutes from downtown Barcelona up to the mountain with public transport. From Plaza Catalunya you can take the S1 to Peu del Funicular and take the cable car up to Vallvidrera Superior which is our favorite spot to start walking. The whole trip only costs you 1 Euro as your are still in the main zone of Barcelona´s public transport system. Last time we went to Sant Cugat (check the blog here), so yesterday we decided to walk to Sant Just Desvern which is the richest town in Catalunya.

By the time we started walking it was already 17.20h so we were in time for some nice photos in the evening sun. Photographer Michael gladly did so 🙂

IMG_0700IMG_0697IMG_0693 Googlemaps said the walk would be about 1:20 hours however, we did not find the right paths and actually walked much more. We were still up in the mountain when the sun went down and darkness arrived.

The area is very popular with mountain bikers so we once in a while had to be careful as they approached rather quickly on a very small, uneven, stony path with not too much space to pass by.

The last few hundreds of meters were also quite interesting as it got really dark and we had to be careful not to stumble downhill. In the end we arrived a street that led us into the town of Sant Just where we had a quick dinner before taking the tram back to Barcelona. It is really what we love about Barcelona: you have the sea, you have the mountain, a multicultural city and if you want you can be outside in the nature within 45 minutes by public transport!
